The one thing I will tell you about your interview is be prepared. Very prepare. Know as much as you can about Recruit training. Know exactly what you're going to learn. Know the weapons you'll learn to handle, know the different types of expectations that will be placed on you once you get there. Know where your IET (Initial Employment Training) takes place and how long it is. Know where you can be posted once you're fully qualified. The more you know, the better it looks for you.

One of the big things about the interview at your next session is that they want to know that you joining the ADF is a decision you haven't made lightly. You're not becoming employed, you're actually changing your entire lifestyle. They want to see that you know exactly what you're signing up for.

That being said, it's an awesome job, fantastic benefits to boot.

One other thing I'll say is don't want those American Boot camp movies and TV shows. Shit like Full Metal Jacket. That's complete and utter horse crap when it comes to the ADF. Recruit training, Army at least, is nothing like that, so don't go coming in with ideas of "that's what it's like". The videos here are the most accurate of them all.

Thank you Ben, I'll get on to the research and what not, I got told you have to look one hundred percent sure you are willing to go, otherwise they may not take you seriously.

But I''ll take your advise. Also, training? How much preparation did you do, I have football training mondays, cricket training tuesdays and thurdays, basketball and reffereeing on wednesday, I play cricket on saturdays and occasionally I run, and do push-up, sit up and chin-up combinations? Is that enough or would I need to be doing more?

It sounds like you're doing alright. I was an extremely unfit fuck when I decided to join, but I got there with a personal trainer, and doing classes at a gym.

As long as you can for your 15 Push Ups, 45 Sit Ups and 7.5 on a beep test before you go, you'll be fine. Although, if you can run 2.4 kms in 11:18, and do 35 Push Ups and 70 Sit Ups before you go, that's a better place to be at.

I ran 3 kms 11:31, but I have ran it just over 10 minutes, I had been doing 50 push-ups and 50 sit-ups every second day.

I'm a bit scared of the 80 days in Kapooka!

I'm not one to get on my high horse about things very often. In fact, I never get on it. But someone needs to say this.

People need to stop fucking relying on fucking extentions. I honestly can't remember the last time an FMW show came and went without an extention.

Deadlines are there. I know it's a hobby for all of us, but there are some people who rely on deadlines being met. Mainly, your head writers, and in turn, the writing staff. Deadlines are often scheduled around times when head writers know it's going to be most effective in making a show happen.

Everytime a deadline is pushed back anywhere along the line, you can expect it to add double, or even triple the extention onto the production of the show. So, if there's an extra day of V+P, then that's an extra 2-3 days in the writing of the show. And that's before all the staff deadlines have come around.

Once in a while is Ok. Every god damn show? Fuck me...

Yeah, I was kind of thinking the turnout for these shows is a bit piss poor considering everyone has had an entire week to write what, 15 pages max? Kind of lame all around really.

Actually thats partially on purpose.

I know a lot of people basically wait until the day before voting starts to even begin thinking about stuff, so for the past few shows Ive been setting the deadline the day before I wanted to actually end the VP period and then just extending it anyway.

I'm all for participation but eventually Bryson, you'll have to let these guys bite the bullet for no-showing or not meeting deadline. And I'm not saying that because my promo is ready before V and P even happens. I mean, if they want to do this hobby, they'll make time unless it's impossible and if so, then it's just a hobby.

am i proud of what i put up? No not really, but within the deadline it was the best that i could do.

the turnout for corruption was awful, step up guys

There. I promoed.

I apologise for the lack of inspiration to STORMMASTER hence the reason for my lateness! Plus I have been sick with chicken pox and thus the V+P thread came at the wrong time.

I could rant but I haven't got the energy to do that.

Can I say something about that?

Now, I will apologize: I just didn't get my promo up. I just have a lot going on and that wasn't as high on my list. Stupid me....and Nick mesaged me about it and I still missed it. That was my fault.

However, I've noticed something in my 4 shows of being here: I always get put in a match where the opponent/team doesn't promo. It has happened for 4 shows now. By the 4th show, which was Death Row, I realized that no matter what I throw up there it doesn't really matter because there is a good chance my opponent won't promo (this past Corruption would be the exception to that anecdote).

Not only that but, I'm one for a direction. I need something to write about. Right about now, I don't. The only thing to be going strong in FMW seems to be that group YNG (which is giving me flashbacks of Original Sin...lol, not the group, but the lack of depth in other people's matches/feuds). They have storylines. I have...regular matches with no direction for my character to really go in which has slowed down my creativity. It doesn't help that all the people get booked whether they show up for their previous match or not. For some reason, I feel as though FMW's roster could be done in one show/brand instead of 2 but that's neither here nor there.

I like my character. I would like to continue using it. I'm just...not really getting "it" in FMW.

I agree with that. Even if you can't get out a "proper" promo it takes 20 minutes to at least put together an effort and show up.

If you can't even manage that (without a legitimately good real life excuse) then you shouldn't be booked next show. I know we are trying to be inclusive and not put people off because of numbers but constantly booking no shows also puts people off.

Talk to me, Bryson and/or Ro about that. I know Bryson has/had something in store for you, but I'm not entirely sure off the top of my head the extent of it.

A big thing right now though, is that Death Row 4 was essentially a "reset" button for this fed. We have a lot of people leaving/becoming part time, and a lot of new people to integrate. Just about every title scene is in a state of chaos at the moment. And we're doing the draft. So rosters are really... really... really fluid. We're going to be launching some new storylines and such starting these two shows. So while I understand the whole "what's my feud" complaint... I'd say be a little patient on that. Of course, if you have any suggestions or anyone in particular you want to do something with, let us know. Because ultimately this is about fun, and if you'd have fun doing a particular match/feud/whatever... then we want to accommodate that as much as possible.

As for the extensions. If I remember correctly we didn't do the extension either at 14.3 or Death Row (one of the two?). Mostly because turnout for those shows was a lot better. Let me put it this way, if we didn't extend the V&P by one day this time around, we probably would have had a show full of shenanigans again. Those can be fun, but way too much of that starts to get annoying and tedious. I mean, we can only write so many "GSW wins handily by strength of numbers and cheating because the opponents didn't show" matches before it gets annoying.

I get that. And as a rule I think we don't, unless we have reason to believe that said people will show. For instance, I questioned booking Dunn at DR4, but apparently Bryson had word from Dunn that he would show (and lo and behold, he did). Similar thoughts for Ryu Quinn/Ken Ryans. It's my understanding that we only book people when we have a reasonable expectation that they will show. Either they can make it public that they intend to show for the next show by posting a "sorry for noshowing" message in the OOC thread, or continuing to talk in the TT threads. Alternatively, they can simply IM/PM me or Bryson. I don't want it to be the case that we automatically don't book people for a show if they no-show, because that would hurt an already low rate of participation here.

Actually, since we're talking about the deadline, as you posted this the deadline was still not passed. In fact (as of my post) theres still an hour and 45 minutes left.

Part of the reason I do what Im calling a preplanned extention is exactly because of one thing you said. I understand its the end of november, beginning of december, holidays are rolling around and people are busy planning and preparing for that. Firstly, no matter how much we all love or dislike a place, this is a hobby and me trying to actively restrict participation by not giving an extra DAY of an extention is just a douchebag move on my part and doesnt help anyone.

Onto the meat of your comment though, which is honestly kind of disheartening. Basically, the way I see it, you're suggesting to me that you don't really read the shows. While the first few matches you had weren't that related, since teaming with Ryu on Amm, then teaming with him and Apo vs the pack was something I would consider a 'storyline'. Ryder as a character is still pretty new, but we established him as a face and then united him with another group of positive face characters who were duped and swerved on by their opponents not only for Corruption.3 but were also their opponents on Death Row. If we're going to make a comparison over the past 3 opponents or so at LPW you've faced Big B. Brown, Zenith, and now Ultramarcus. Those guys aren't really related or strung together, but because you know where things are leading to it may seem different to you. I know that we were both pretty excited for what the future holds for you coming up in FMW, its just a matter of setting things up which takes time. I am trying to get things moving along quicker.

Also, dont think I'm red in the face typing this either as Im just tryng to help explain a situation. As apostasy said previously, this past cycle or so, and more specifically these past few shows, have really been more about shaking the fed up and helping reshape it. Clearly its hard to accomplish, but this upcoming show is going to be one really big step in finalizing whats happening.

In a more general comment, since we're talking about participation, there were only 5-6 people that didnt show for Death Row. Death Row had a card that included almost all 43 people we have participating in the fed. Are there going to be noshows? Yeah, there will be all the time. It happens. As has been previously stated by other people, I'm the most easily accessable person on the forums, and I often talk to people outside of just FMW. A lot of times people come up to me privately, or on AIM, or on facebook, or call me on my phone and talk to me about their direction or if they need time off or that they had some emergency that caused them to miss a show or something. I'm ok with this, as I've said before I'm not going to penalize anyone over real life. Contrary to some urban legends, I'm really not that big of a douche and am very understanding. I want everyone here who participates to have a good time.
