1988 was when the Mid Atlantic Tag Titles were reknown as the NWA Tag belts, however it wasn't until 1992 at The Great American Bash where Terry Gordy and Steve Williams officially were named the NWA tag team champions, to add to their identical reign in WCW.

It was coined after Dusty Rhodes used it regularly in his matches and bookings, however the unsung inventor of this method is Eddie Graham who regulary did it as part of his persona.
