Staff Volunteering Thread

This is where we may call out to usually non-staffers if we really need help with writing matches and such. I'm not sure who has access and who doesn't to staff forums atm, but if you don't and you're on staff, please post and say which staff you're on, and if you're not yet, volunteer! You get rewarded for shows coming out quickly with match opportunities and such, plus you get the satisfaction of it all

• Name is your name, obviously.
  
• Show (Rostered) is whatever show your CHARACTER is on.
  
• Show (Staff) is what show you write for (or would like to write for) OOC. This will usually be your character's show but there may be exceptions (see: Leon Caprice).
  
• Available For refers to what duties you perform or would like to perform. Match-writing is pretty much an essential for almost all staff as it is the main job. Segment writing and promo rating are also important tasks that staff have to do.

Skyler / Ro, if you find yourself short and no one on Corruption/Distortion is stepping up then give me a shout. My first commitment is to Amm but I am happy to do two matches and a segment or two at a time.

I used to write for my old fed a few years ago, if my class load lightens up anytime soon I can help here but I am swamped right now

You're right, staff is a big commitment, but it's not as hard as it sounds.

To write a good match, it's normally 3 - 7 pages in microsoft word (3 for for an opener, and 7 for a main event). It's not like writing a promo though, you're given a vague guide on the main points which need to happen, and then you flesh it out with action leading up to these points.

It's a lot easier than you think, esspecially once you've written one or two. The first is always the hardest.

Depending on how fast you write, it'll take an hour or two to write the match, that's it.

So yeah, don't take it lightly, but don't think it's an impossible task. Anyone can write for staff. It's A LOT easier than people like Slegna makes it seem.

Another point I'd like to make is that if you put down 'ratings' or 'segments' and not match writing or ahead of match writing, it's unlikely we'll put you on at all. Ratings are done by those staff who have put in consistent time and effort into writing matches to start with. Imagine the ladder.

Match writing ---> Segment writing ---> Rating.

We need match writers FAR more than we need raters, let me put it that way. Don't expect you can do the ratings without putting in the grunt work writing matches first.

TBM convinced me to give it go. Problem is I'm going down to Tampa soon and so I might not be able to do much after I leave.

I want to say please everone stop puting down ratings! Rating a promo is an extremely difficult job to do accurately, and should be left to the A-grade promoers. I wouldn't take it on because I couldn't do it justice, I wouldn't give a good score I know. I don't like how everybody thinks they can do it, it irritates me.

Anyway, to turn to a more encouraging note, I want to point out to possible writers that ME's are usually taken by the usual writers, so signing up to tackle the midcard is an easy enough task. 4-5 pages word will do, a page would go to the entrance, and a page will go towards the finish, and a simple match in between. It's really a small task if you have the time to do it.

Well, honestly, I wanted to put something else down cause I doubt I can write segments for other characters, when I don't really know my character that well atm.

Yeah, I'll write matches if everyone else is dead/dying or even undead and their fingers have rotted too much to type.

I'll throw my name out for the sake of assisting a troubled staff, but in no way can I commit to a full time schedule writing matches, maybe segments, but definitely not matches right now. Consider me in the reserves.

I enjoyed my tenure on staff, that was back during the 3's and 4's. I'd like to help but don't think I watch enough wrestling anymore to write matches. (Read: None)
